Planner Pad Privacy

Effective date: 27 October 2026
Last updated: 27 October 2026

Planner Pad: Daily Planner (“the App”) is a paper-like planner for iPhone, iPad and Mac, published by Nicolai Olesen (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the App.

In short: we collect nothing. The App has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your plans, handwriting and tasks stay on your device. None of it is ever sent to us.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal information.

The App contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting services and no third-party tracking code. It does not ask you to create an account or sign in, and it does not contact any server of ours, because there isn’t one.

We therefore have no access to your plans, your handwriting, your tasks, your calendar, your device identifiers, your location or any other information on your device.

2. Information the App stores

To do its job, the App saves the following on your device:

What Why
Your plans and pages: handwriting, text, checklists, tables, photos, stickers and links you add So your planner is there next time you open it
Tasks, their days, times, reminders and repeats For the day list, the calendar and your widgets
Your covers, designs and templates So your planner looks the way you made it
Text read from your handwriting So you can search what you wrote
Which covers you own and your preferences So the App works the way you left it

Not in iCloud. The App does not sync through iCloud at the moment. Everything stays on the device it was written on, and is included in your device’s iCloud or computer backup if you have one turned on. That backup is made and encrypted by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy; we cannot see it. If a future version adds sync, this policy will say so first.

Widgets and Live Activities. The Today and Pinned widgets show today’s tasks and the checklists you choose, and a Live Activity can show the time block you are in. To do that the App keeps a small summary in storage shared only with its own widgets. Anyone who can see your Home Screen or Lock Screen can see these items, so leave them off the Lock Screen if that matters to you.

3. Features that reach outside the App

  • Handwriting recognition (for search and “Text from handwriting”) runs entirely on your device, using Apple’s on-device text recognition.
  • Links you add to a page. To show a link’s title (and, if you turn it on, a picture of the page), the App opens that web address directly from your device, as a browser would. The website sees an ordinary visit from your device. Nothing passes through us.
  • Purchases. Premium covers are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details, and the App only checks with Apple which covers you own.
  • Siri, Shortcuts and Focus. “Add Task” and “Today’s Agenda” run on your device. A Focus filter only chooses which of your tasks the App shows.
  • Exporting, sharing and copying. When you export a plan as PDF, Markdown or JSON, share it, print it, or copy items to another app, it goes only where you send it. What happens to it there is up to you and that app.

4. Permissions the App asks for

  • Calendars, optional, to show your events next to your plans. If you turn it on, the App also adds your time blocks to a “Planner Pad” calendar (you can allow adding events only, without reading them). Events are read on your device; any calendar you write to syncs through the account it belongs to (iCloud, Google, Exchange), as your other events do.
  • Reminders, optional, to bring reminders in as tasks and tick them off in both apps.
  • Notifications, optional, only for tasks you give a reminder time.
  • Photos, only the photos you pick to place on a page, through the system picker. The App never sees the rest of your library.

The App asks for no other permissions: no location, no contacts, no camera, no microphone and no tracking.

5. Tracking

The App does not track you. It does not collect data about you for advertising or measurement, does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and does not link any data to your identity or to other apps and websites. It never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it has nothing to ask for.

6. Third parties

There are none. We share no data with anyone, because we receive none. The App has no analytics, advertising or other partners with access to user data.

Apple provides the App Store, Calendar, Reminders, Siri, on-device text recognition and device backups under its own privacy policy. If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple may also collect its own download and usage statistics; we receive only anonymous, aggregate reports.

7. Data retention and deletion

We hold no data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. You control everything:

  • Delete a plan, a page item or a task in the App.
  • Delete everything by deleting the App. iOS and macOS remove all of its plans, ink, photos and settings.
  • Calendar events and reminders the App added stay in Calendar and Reminders until you delete them there. You can delete the whole “Planner Pad” calendar in the Calendar app.
  • Purchases stay with your Apple Account, so a restore brings your covers back.

8. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-audience planner and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

9. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, port, delete and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Under the CCPA/CPRA you also have the right to know what is collected and sold, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We are not a data controller or a “business” for your use of the App, because we never receive your data. Everything in Section 2 is on your own device, under your control. You can export it (JSON keeps everything, ink included) or erase it yourself at any time using the steps in Section 7.

We have never sold or shared personal information, and we never will.

If you believe we hold data about you nonetheless, contact us using the details in Section 11. We will respond within the time frame the applicable law requires. EU and UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

10. Changes to this policy

If the App ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date before that version ships. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes for that version.
