Liftsmith: Weight Lifting Log (“the App”) is a strength-training log for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, published by Nicolai Olesen (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the App.

In short: we collect nothing. The App has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Your workouts stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account, and your health data stays in Apple Health. None of it is ever sent to us.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell, rent or share any personal information.

The App contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash-reporting services and no third-party tracking code. It does not ask you to create an account or sign in, and it does not contact any server of ours, because there isn’t one.

We therefore have no access to your workouts, your body measurements, your health data, your device identifiers, your location or any other information on your device.

2. Information the App stores

To do its job, the App saves the following on your device:

What Why
Your exercises, sets, weights, reps, durations and workout history So you can log sessions and follow your progress
Your weekly plan, tags, routines and programs So each day shows the right exercises
Body measurements you enter or import (weight, body fat, height, waist, neck, hip, resting heart rate) For the Body tab and its health reviews
Your profile answers from setup (goal, experience, days per week, session length, and optionally sex and birth year) To recommend a program and calculate health reviews
Preferences such as your weight unit and which cards are expanded So the App looks the way you left it

iCloud sync. If you are signed in to iCloud, the App keeps this information in sync across your own devices using Apple’s CloudKit, in your private iCloud database. Data in your private database belongs to your Apple Account: it is stored and encrypted by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy, and we, the developer, cannot see or access it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, everything stays on the device.

Apple Watch. The Watch app receives today’s exercises from your iPhone and sends your edits back, directly between your own devices via Apple’s WatchConnectivity.

3. Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you connect it, iOS asks you which types of data the App may read and write, and you can change that at any time.

Health data read by the App is processed on your device. A workout or measurement is copied into the App’s own records (and so into your private iCloud database, as described above) only when you import it.

We never use Health data for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sell it, and never share it with anyone. It is used only to provide the App’s health and fitness features to you, as Apple’s HealthKit rules require.

The health reviews in the Body tab use published formulas for information only. They are not medical advice.

4. Permissions the App asks for

The App asks for no other permissions: no location, no contacts, no photos, no camera, no microphone and no tracking.

5. Tracking

The App does not track you. It does not collect data about you for advertising or measurement, does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and does not link any data to your identity or to other apps and websites. It never shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it has nothing to ask for.

6. Third parties

There are none. We share no data with anyone, because we receive none. The App has no analytics, advertising or other partners with access to user data.

Apple provides iCloud, Apple Health, WatchConnectivity and device backups under its own privacy policy. If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple may also collect its own download and usage statistics; we receive only anonymous, aggregate reports.

7. Data retention and deletion

We hold no data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side. You control everything:

8. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-audience fitness app and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

9. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, port, delete and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Under the CCPA/CPRA you also have the right to know what is collected and sold, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We are not a data controller or a “business” for your use of the App, because we never receive your data. Everything in Sections 2 and 3 is on your own devices, in your own iCloud account or in Apple Health, under your control. You can inspect or erase it yourself at any time using the steps in Section 7.

We have never sold or shared personal information, and we never will.

If you believe we hold data about you nonetheless, contact us using the details on this page. We will respond within the time frame the applicable law requires. EU and UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

10. Changes to this policy

If the App ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date before that version ships. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes for that version.
