Pixel Scraper Privacy

Effective date: 29 October 2026
Last updated: 29 October 2026

Pixel Scraper (“the App”) is a relaxing idle game for iPhone and iPad, published by Nicolai Olesen (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to information when you use the App.

In short: we collect nothing, but the ads do. The App has no accounts, no analytics and no server of ours. Your game stays on your device. The one exception is the small ad banner at the bottom of the screen and the videos you can choose to watch: those are served by Google AdMob, which receives some information from your device to show them. Buying Remove Ads turns the banner off for good.

1. Information we collect

We do not collect, transmit, sell or rent any personal information, and we receive none.

The App does not ask you to create an account or sign in, contains no analytics or crash-reporting services of ours, and does not contact any server of ours, because there isn’t one. We have no access to your progress, your gallery, your device identifiers or your location.

2. Information the App stores

To do its job, the App saves the following on your device:

What Why
Your progress: Bits, gems, tools, bots, items, cards and the pieces in your Gallery So your game is there next time you open it
Your Daily puzzle results and streak For the streak and the week of check marks
Which purchases you own and your settings So the App works the way you left it
The times of any streak reminders you turned on So the reminder arrives on time

This is kept in the App’s own storage. It is included in your device’s iCloud or computer backup if you have one turned on; that backup is made and encrypted by Apple under Apple’s Privacy Policy, and we cannot see it. Deleting the App deletes it.

3. Advertising (Google AdMob)

The App shows a 320×50 banner at the bottom of the screen, and a video when you tap a “2× (watch video)” button. Both come from Google AdMob. To choose, show and measure an ad, and to prevent fraud, Google’s software in the App receives information such as:

  • your device’s IP address, from which a rough location (country or city) can be worked out
  • device and app information: model, operating system, language, app version
  • identifiers: an advertising identifier (IDFA) only if you allow tracking when iOS asks, otherwise an identifier limited to this App’s vendor
  • what happens with the ads: views, taps and whether a video was watched to the end
  • diagnostic information about the ads, such as load times and errors

Google handles this as described in its own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy. We never see it.

Your choices:

  • Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the App asks for your consent with Google’s consent form before any ad is requested, and Settings has a “Privacy choices (ads)” button to change your answer at any time.
  • Tracking. If iOS asks whether the App may track you, choosing “Ask App Not to Track” means no advertising identifier is shared and ads are not personalised with it. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
  • Remove Ads. A one-time purchase that removes the banner for good. Videos then only ever play when you tap a button that asks for one.

4. Other features that reach outside the App

  • Purchases. Gem packs and Remove Ads are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your payment details, and the App only checks with Apple which purchases you own. Scratch cards show their odds before you scratch.
  • Sharing your Daily result. Tapping share copies a spoiler-free text to your clipboard. It goes only where you paste it.
  • Streak reminders, optional, are local notifications scheduled on your device. No notification server is involved.

5. Permissions the App asks for

  • Notifications, optional, only for streak reminders you turn on.
  • Tracking (App Tracking Transparency), optional, for personalised ads as described in Section 3.

The App asks for no other permissions: no location, no contacts, no photos, no camera and no microphone.

6. Third parties

Google AdMob (Google LLC and its affiliates) is the only third party that receives information from the App, as described in Section 3. We share no data with anyone else, because we receive none.

Apple provides the App Store, purchases, notifications and device backups under its own privacy policy. If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple may also collect its own download and usage statistics; we receive only anonymous, aggregate reports.

7. Data retention and deletion

We hold no data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on our side.

  • Start over with Settings → Reset progress, or delete the App to remove everything it stored. Purchases stay with your Apple Account, so Restore Purchases brings them back.
  • Advertising data is held by Google under its retention policies. Where the consent form applies, you can change your answer from Settings → “Privacy choices (ads)” in the App; tracking is managed in iOS Settings.

8. Children’s privacy

The App is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We collect no personal information from anyone, children included.

9. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights to access, correct, port, delete and restrict the processing of your personal data, and to object to it. Under the CCPA/CPRA you also have the right to know what is collected and shared, to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We never receive your data, so we are not its controller. Your game data is on your own device (Section 2). For advertising data, Google is the controller: use the in-app “Privacy choices (ads)” form or “Ask App Not to Track” to withdraw consent or opt out, and contact Google through its privacy policy for access or deletion.

We have never sold personal information, and we never will.

If you believe we hold data about you nonetheless, contact us using the details in Section 11. We will respond within the time frame the applicable law requires. EU and UK users also have the right to lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.

10. Changes to this policy

If the App ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this policy and the “Last updated” date before that version ships. Material changes will also be noted in the App Store release notes for that version.
